Event Details

The Australian Centre for Social Innovation (TACSI) invite you to a special Blue Sky Session event for social entrepreneurs, or anyone interested in finding a way to fund their good idea!

Crowdfunding for Good is a panel discussion starring three very different social entrepreneurs, each part of a different social enterprise which helps crowdfund good ideas!

Our special guest is Tom Dawkins, who'll be talking about his recently launched platform for crowdfunding social enterprise, called Start Some Good. Tom was the co-founder of Australian youth portal Vibewire, and is now based in San Franscisco, so we're really pleased he's making time while he's back in Oz to speak with us!

Also on the panel is Rick Chen, co-founder of Pozible (formerly known as FundBreak). Pozible is an online platform for crowdfunding creative projects and ideas. Last year, Pozible hosted Australia's largest crowdfunding effort to date, when online magazine New Matilda used the platform to raise $175,000, enough to publish their magazine through 2011.

Our third panellist is Ross Hill, a trustee the recently launched Melbourne chapter of the Awesome Foundation. Each chapter of the Awesome Foundation awards a $1000 grant each month in support of ideas they deem to be awesome, ranging from technology, arts, social good & beyond.

We're so excited to have so many Australian social entrepreneurs working on the challenge of how to fundraise for awesome ideas. This should be a really interesting and useful panel - hopefully you'll leave with some great ideas for funding your own awesome project. :)

Location:

The Hub Melbourne is located on Level 3, Donkey Wheel House, Bourke Street, Melbourne. It is at the Southern Cross Station end of Bourke St.

Please note this event is wheelchair accessible.

About Blue Sky Sessions

The Blue Sky Sessions provide a forum for people to come together in a spirit of collaborative inquiry to discuss some of the pressing challenges of our day and how we might go about tackling them.

The format is informal and interactive. Speakers provide some introductory remarks around a given question before some Q&A, followed by general discussion and networking. This will not be a case of talking heads. We encourage people to participate, to be creative and to think big.

About TACSI

The Australian Centre for Social Innovation exists to identify and support the innovative ideas, methods and people that will contribute to and accelerate positive social change.
